COURSE MATERIALS:ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES (The English language Textbook given to you) is required for this course. Students will also be responsible for downloading required materials and reading assignments from the internet. A good English dictionary and a notebook are also recommended for this course. It is compulsory that students take notes during classes and read the textbook for more clarification.
DURATION: this course is intended to last through the second semester of the 2019/2020 academic session.
CLASS SCHEDULES: For now, this class will hold every Tuesday. The time will be communicated to you by the instructors.
GNS 002 will focus on the development and enhancement of skills in English Language and Communication. Students will learn the varieties of English language; how English Language varies in different countries and the standardized variety that is expected of them to use. They will also be able to use language to convey specific messages to intended audiences and to differentiate between the American and the British variants of the English Language. Students will be introduced to the writing process, specifically; concentration will be on how to communicate written ideas effectively.
The course will also focus on mechanics of writing, letter writing and word formation processes.Lastly, students will learn the rudiments of public speaking and be well prepared for the undergraduate learning.
